Frequently Asked Questions
Here are the most frequent questions we get asked, however, if your question is not answered below, please get in touch.
What do you do if a bale is not tied properly?
Keep baling until the bale comes out the top, then clean the loose hay off of the accumulator.
Can the accumulator handle an high degree slope without difficulties?
Usually only the very steepest of hills will require adjustment of any kind. The center of gravity on the accumulator is fairly low and is even lower with a load so it can handle just about any hill that your tractor can.
Can the accumulator handle a 36-38.5kg (80-85lb) bale?
Yes, the 10 bale model can.
Can the bales be laid flat instead on of edge?
Yes. We have models that accommodate putting the bales flat.
What do you do when you are finished for the day and extra bales are still in the chute or the lanes of the accumulator?
Just push the bales on up the chute, then manually trip the back gate.
Will we have to remove the kicker to hook the accumulator?
Yes, the accumulator hooks up directly behind the bale chamber.
Will the accumulator fit my baler?
The accumulator will fit any 14x18 baler. The flat models will also work with 16x18 bales.
After the bales slide off, what closes the catch door on the accumulator?
A counterweight closes the back gate as soon as the last bales slide off of the gate.
How much assembly is there if I come out to pick up?
It takes about 30 min to set it up after delivery.
What hp tractor do you recommend for your accumulators and grabber?
There is no extra horsepower required for the accumulator. The lift capacity requirements for the grabber will vary according to the model.
Will your grabber fit inside an 8 ft wide tractor trailer van without tearing it up?
Yes. We have a dock and use a grabber on the skid steer to drive into the van. We put 5 bales on edge along one side with the skid steer and hand stack 1 flat along the other side.
How close to the top of the van will it load if mounted on a skid steer?
We put the top layer in by hand.
What is the maximum dimension bales your accumulators will handle?
The longest bale length we have tested is 40 inches. The grabber would need modification beyond that.
Why do you twist the bales 90 degrees into the accumulator?
For drying in the stack. Studies have found that hay cures much better when stored on edge. Moisture moves up and has less resistance when the majority of the stems are vertical.
Can you put the grabber on a standard front end loader?
Yes, we ship the grabber blank so you can put any adapter on that you need. We do offer a universal skid steer mounting plate that we can weld on for you if you wish.
Is it possible to grab the bales from the side too?
Yes you can with the 10 bale, but not the 15 bale because the 15 bale grabs are not square.
How do you keep the bales from falling off of the wagon if you stack them all the same way?
Stacking the hay with a stair step in the front helps to tie them together lengthwise. Putting a "tie layer" on top holds the bales horizontally and if you are going any distance, two straps going lengthwise keep things under control. The stair step in the front is a lot easier to attain if the stander on the wagon is tilted back 1/2 bale per layer.
Size of bearings for wheels?
(bearing - small LM67048) (race - small LM67010) (bearing - large JL69349) (race - large JL69310) (wheel hub seal G906284 1.625x2.562x.390)
